Spa Day 2011

Once again hosted at the magnificent home of Dottie & Robert Zveibil, Spa Day 2011 was amazing. The weather cooperated... for May, we had breezes, sun and no humidity. In addition to your superb home and hospitality, thank you so much for ordering such sublime weather!

We all know it takes a village, and this year, our Spa Day village was larger and more productive than ever... and boy was it great! Everyone was talking about how sweet and well-run the event was. We can't thank anyone enough, but we're going to try right now!

Behind-the-Scenes Committee
Rochelle Tischler, Pamela Kelner, Sue Reisman, Nancy Mendelson, Peter Fox, Karen Rosenfeld and Renee Greene met with us on different occasions. Rochelle even cancelled a yoga class to be available to participate as it was really hard to find a day and time that worked for everyone. From new ideas to finding therapists and instructors to running around town getting great items for our raffle and silent auction, you were integral to making this event fun and profitable.

Anne Goldberg and Renee greeted attendees with hugs and smiles. At this year's best-run Spa Day, they made sure everything started smoothly for attendees and practitioners. They also helped manage the schedule moving people around and fitting people in for last minute Service purchases helping everyone create the beautiful day they wanted for themselves.

Stress-Melters
Dottie led two Stress-Melter sessions (lovingly called "the Melter" by some attendees, ok, it was Steve Weisberg who called it that!). The first session was for Practitioners to help them relax into this beautiful day, and the second was for Attendees as a sweet way to start the day. It has become, as we say in Anatevka, our 10:00 a.m. Tradition!

• Art (Mixed media by Rabbi Shoni Labowitz and a framed print from 1904 of Naples, Italy donated by Jenae Rubin - that's the first time in TAO history we had to use her last name!)
• Jewelry (Simple Yet Elegant Accessories on Las Olas, strands of pearls from an anonymous donor, miscellaneous jewelry from another anonymous donor, and assorted necklaces and earrings from a friend of Pam.

Karen outdid herself (again) selling raffle tickets.Thanks! You always do such a great job. "How many raffle tickets do you want?!!!"

Setting Up the Night Before
... Was zippy due to the great help. In addition to most of the "Behind-the-Scenes" committee members, including Marcia Peschitz who helped stuff goody bags (some piles were taller than Sue... thanks to Irene!) and prepare the kitchen. Keith Kander moved a lot of furniture and Charles Tischler lugged hundreds of pounds of boxes for the goody bags.

Gourmet Spa Lunch Buffet
We're Jewish, so food is key! Nancy did a great job shopping and selecting delicious food that enticed people to graze all afternoon... guilt free! Irene provided most of the hot food (what a mitzvah). And Renee donated the wine for our Wine & Cheese Chill which turned into game watching.

Rochelle's Kitchen Crew (Joyce Finn, Marcia Peschitz, Karen, Nancy and Charles Tischler) worked their tushies off to make the event delicious, fresh and flowing. Dottie jokes that they know their way around her kitchen better than she! If you can't function without caffeine in the morning, you have Joyce to thank for your tea or coffee fix! Charles perfectly prepared all the yummy cooked food too.

• Personal Trainer Craig Marks of T-3 Fitness - Ethelind has a one-on-one session with Craig. She was overheard saying, "I don't sweat." What do you say now, Ethelind!
• Zumba teacher Soledad Berazza had motivated students dancing up a storm (Zumba is salsa aerobics, for those of you wondering).
• Water Aerobics instructor Carole Rushing (who returned for the second time) had an active group of men and women sweating (is that possible) in the pool!
• TAO's own Andrea Pinsky, who led a Pilates class, started off the fitness aspect of Spa Day.

Rabbi Marc, who lived in an ashram for a few years prior to his Rabbinical calling, led a Renewal Yoga class and meditation that was the perfect end to the perfect day.

Thanks Abound
We received countless thanks during the day and several emails after the event for how beautiful, well run and sweet the day was. As I told the people who shared their compliments, it is because of our volunteers and donors that this day was as beautiful as it was. Thank you so very, very much.
