A Courageous Conversation on Intersectionality with A Wider Bridge
What is intersectionality? What does it mean to have allies and to be an ally? Are progressive networks still friendly terrain for Jews and friends of Israel?
A Wider Bridge (AWB) brings people of all faiths and sexual orientations and gender identities to the table to stand for justice, demand Equality for Israel, and secure Equality in Israel. Join AWB, 10 Days of Connection, and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Broward County, for a Courageous Conversation on Intersectionality featuring Rev. Shanea D. Leonard and Rabbi Denise L. Eger, will discuss, in conversation with Evan Goldman, intersecting identities, how the Jewish community fights for racial justice, and how we have complex conversations in intersectional networks. The two faith leaders traveled to Israel together in 2019 with AWB Executive Director Ethan Felson.
Rev. Shanea D. Leonard, B.A., M.Div., a native of Philadelphia, is a social justice pastor and modern-day abolitionist. Rev. Leonard has been an ordained minister for 15 years serving not only in parish leadership but also in public justice and advocacy work. They serve as the National Associate for Gender and Racial Justice for the Presbyterian Church (USA). Rev. Leonard Is the moderator of the Pastor’s Council for the Fellowship of Affirming Ministries and past board chair of New Voices for Reproductive Justice. They feel especially called to marginalized populations and people on the fringes of society whom others don’t even see.
