As Jews, we know the feeling of being treated as strangers simply because of who we are. The Jewish tenet that all people are created B’tzelem Elohim, in the Divine Image, animates our work for LGBTQ people nationwide to be treated with dignity. We mobilize rabbis, community leaders and members, synagogues, youth movements, and Jewish advocacy organizations to affirm, on the bimah and in the streets, that fighting for LGBTQ equality is a Jewish imperative.

About this event

Sarasota Jewish Democrats, chapter of the Florida Democratic Party Jewish Caucus, presents Nosh and Knowledge: “LGBTQ Advocacy is a Jewish Value” Join us on on ZOOM on Sunday April 24th at 11 am.

Guest Speaker JON COHEN is a Florida native and National Director of Community Mobilization from Keshet, the nation’s leading LGBTQ Jewish organization. They are fighting for LGBTQ Equality in Jewish life and beyond.

During this session we will learn and discuss inclusion and action as a Jewish value, what LGBTQ rights are like in Florida and the U.S. today and how you can take action for your LGBTQ loved ones.

Keshet was founded in 1996 to work for the full equality of all LGBTQ Jews in our families in Jewish life. Check them out at www.keshetonline.org. Fighting for justice is a deeply Jewish act. They rally the Jewish community to put our values into action by advancing LGBTQ rights nationwide. Clearly, Florida is a state where there is work to be done. Join us to hear about the situation and what we can do to help.
