The topic is Jewish burial, a conversation that might make you feel a bit uncomfortable, but face the reality: this is something that all of us will partake in personally at some stage sooner or later. Why not have an informed conversation on this inevitable event in our life process? Our guest will be Rabbi Jay Lyons who created and directs the South Florida Jewish Cemetery located in Palm Beach County just outside of the city limits of Lake Worth. What’s the big deal about Rabbi Lyons and his cemetery? His South Florida Jewish Cemetery is run as a nonprofit program that provides the Mitzvah of burial to all regardless of financial resources. His organization serves as a resource for education in the Jewish community about the value, importance of Jewish burial in the traditional sense. And this cemetery is a 100% Green operation. When it comes to this eco-friendly choice of Green burial, (per the website . . .) it’s a natural approach to caring for the dead with minimal environmental impact which aids in the conservation of natural resources, reduction of carbon emissions, protection of worker health, and the restoration and/or preservation of habitat. How cool is that?
