Tifereth/Beauty-Integration
Joseph, whose final days are covered in this week’s Torah portion, possessed and developed holy qualities that are worth considering: beauty, integrity, grace, faithfulness, wisdom, and, what the Kabbalah refers to as, Yesod – foundation. Cantor Schwartz will lead us on a brief journey through words so that may arrive at a place of trust in ourselves, others, and God.

Cantor Richard Schwartz has served communities and individuals as a cantor, spiritual leader, educational director, choral conductor, concert producer, Jewish music and liturgy consultant, B’nai Mitzvah mentor, and Hebrew, music, and Judaic studies instructor. He received his Bachelor of Arts in vocal performance from the University of Massachusetts and prepared for a career in the cantorate in Los Angeles with cantors Samuel Kelemer, William Sharlin and Nathan Lam. He is commissioned by the Cantors Assembly, certified by Hebrew Union College’s School of Sacred Music, and is a fellow of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality. Cantor Schwartz graduated American Jewish University with a Masters of Arts in Education and a Bachelor of Hebrew Letters in 2011 and is currently enrolled in Cal State University of Los Angeles’s three-summer Master of Choral Conducting program.

Whether one views it as a religion, heritage, culture, family, nation, people, spiritual path, or civilization, Judaism was – and is – a created phenomenon. Its laws, practices, stories, customs, and rituals were conceived in the human imagination and entered into the world through creative action. Cantor Schwartz will guide us towards experiencing Judaism as a creative enterprise, share practices for accessing the Imagination, and explore ways in which perceiving Judaism through a new lens might transform your life.

Please give a listen to his latest release, Six Feet Apart:
