Becoming Eve
Join Dr. Lisa as she facilitates a discussion of the remarkable book “Becoming Eve.”
In Part 2 of “Becoming Eve,” Dr. Lisa will discuss the concepts of sex and gender, and the Mystical Jewish teachings regarding sex and gender, as they relate to “Becoming Eve….”
Building on Dr. Lisa’s recent teachings about self-discovery and responding to the inner voice that calls, “Becoming Eve” describes Abby Chava Stein’s journey from ultra-orthodox rabbi to transgender woman.
Our learning will also weave in the Biblical story of Eve and the wisdom of Rabbi Nilton Bonder, whose book “Our Immoral Soul” provides a framework within which to discuss the impulse to transgress, to betray the status quo, driven by the desire for self-discovery, growth and evolution.
Prior reading of the book “Becoming Eve” is encouraged to engage most deeply in the conversation. Shabbat learning will take place on Facebook Live and Zoom on Saturday, June 27 at 2pm EST.
