6:30 pm – adult program with Rabbi Goldie Milgram – see below for the list of things to have on hand….

Tu B’Shevat, or the “birthday” of all fruit trees, is also known as Jewish Arbor Day.  It is an ancient and authentic Jewish connection to contemporary ecological issues.  Tu B’Shevat is an opportunity to raise awareness about and to care for the environment through the teaching of Jewish sources celebrating nature. It is also a day to focus on the environmental sensitivity of the Jewish tradition by planting trees wherever Jews may live.

We humans can also celebrate along with the trees. After all, the Torah says, “Man is a tree of the field.” We are nurtured by deep roots, as far back as Abraham and Sarah; we reach upwards to the heavens while standing firmly on the ground; and when we do all this right, we produce fruits that benefit the world—namely, our good deeds.

For the adult program you will need:

Mystical Tu B’Shevat Seder with Reb Goldie

“Let’s see if on Zoom we can be m’kubalim–sacred transducers and attain the amazing apex of the Tu B’Shevat Seder. It’s one of my favorite Jewish rituals of the year! On my table I will have and lift up what is needed for each of the four dimensions of this seder. If you wish, you can send a list to Instacart or the like (it’s a pandemic, love you, be safe!) to bring and do so, too. And we will chant and sing and discuss and delight!”
