According to the Megillah, Purim is to be observed as “a day of feasting and merrymaking, and as an occasion for sending gifts to one another and presents to the poor” in celebration of how life for the Jews in that time was “transformed from one of grief and mourning to one of festive joy.” The goal of our Wisdom class is to explore the nature of joy from a Jewish perspective and investigate the conditions that allow it to rise. We will also “merry-make” so bring your mask, a Homentashen, and a willingness to sing as Cantor Schwartz will share some of his favorite Purim songs. Alcoholic beverages are permitted!
