Vayeshev: Genesis 37:1 – 40:23

This is the beginning of Chanukah, the Festival of Lights.  Chanukah celebrates the victory of the Maccabees over the Assyrians, the rededication of the Temple (164 BCE), and the miracle of a single day’s oil giving light for eight days.

The only certainty that you can hold on to is the light that God pours into the foundation of your being.  (Wisdom, p. 81)

Vayeshev: Genesis 37:1 – 40:23

It is difficult to light the way so others will not stumble, then to walk away non-attached.  Your inclination might be to stay and light more candles, watch them glow and burn.  Yet the selfless one realizes that in the lighting of just one candle, a series has begun, whereby one candle will light another, and yet another, and so on.  Your task is only to release the sparks.  (Compassion, p. 133)

Vayeshev: Genesis 37:1 – 40:23

In the silence, you are better able to see the wisdom and hear the understanding beneath your words and actions.  In the silence, you access the invisible, inaudible light that is uniquely yours.  Remember in the pauses throughout the day to rediscover your uniqueness and reactivate your light.  (Understanding, p. 102)

Everything is inhabited by a Godspark.  Everything in creation is a conduit for the light and is looking to share it freely with a receptive soul.  (Understanding, p. 101)

Miketz: Genesis 41:1 – 44:17

Meditation on the Flame
Pause a moment and sit comfortably in a chair or on the floor.  Keep your eyes open as you gaze at the candle in front of you.  Maintain your focus on the candle in front of you and begin noticing the image and sensations of the candle moving closer and closer to you.  See the candle inside of you and concentrate on the flame within your body.  Watch it move through one body part at a time, until it envelops you with passion and emerges out the top of your head in a fountain of color, light and energy.  Spend a moment or two luxuriating in the energizing flow.  (Creativity, p. 264)

Tuesday, December 15, 2020 – 29 Kislev 5781 – 6 candles

The more light you allow to flow through you, the more wondrous your reality is.  (Wisdom, p. 77)

Miketz: Genesis 41:1 – 44:17

Emptiness is the first step in going within and touching God.  Only if you are empty can you reflect God’s image, echo God’s voice, and be filled with God’s light.  (Intention, p. 35)
