Shoftim: Deuteronomy 16:18 – 21:9

“Walk in perfect trust with Adonai, your God.”

The soul is that part inside that knows God and plays life for God through you.  The soul knows God as the Source of all that is, was, and will be.  With recognition from you as its caretaker, the soul flourishes and awakens you to the Divine spark that dwells within the sanctuary of your body.  (Intention, p. 40)

Shoftim: Deuteronomy 16:18 – 21:9

Moses again speaks of prophets…..

Your awareness of the sanctity within yourself and the sacredness of all existence affects everything, everywhere.  When you recognize your holiness, you think, speak, and act in holiness.  (Intention, p. 53)

Saturday, September 7, 2019 – 7 Elul 5779

Shoftim: Deuteronomy 16:18 – 21:9

Moses reminds the people that when they go to battle, to not fear, for God is with them.

Internal fear is the fear of losing a sense of the Divine within yourself, of disconnecting from what makes you sacred.  God is everlasting and eternal – God can never be lost.  (Strength, p. 169)

Sunday, September 8, 2019 – 8 Elul 5779

Ki Teitze: Deuteronomy 21:10 – 25:19

Moses presents a series of social laws which address ethical behaviors for God’s holy people.

You were born into the world at this time with a specific mission – to refine your little piece of God’s soul.  You refine your soul by nurturing your inner spirit and caring for your relationship with God in your life and honoring the multiplicity of God’s images in the lives of others.  (Creativity, p. 277)

Monday, September 9, 2019 – 9 Elul 5779

Ki Teitze: Deuteronomy 21:10 – 25:19

Attune to the fine points of discretion.  Being discrete means having the patience to listen consciously without judging; to act appropriately without needing to change another; to serve with compassion without altering another’s beliefs or attitudes; to accept without analyzing; to empower without intimidation.  (Strength, p. 149)

Tuesday, September 10, 2019 – 10 Elul 5779

Ki Teitze: Deuteronomy 21:10 – 25:19

Moses addresses the behavior of children, their parents, and communal responsibility.

Teach your children joy and teach the child within you joy.  Joy leads you out of confusion and into clarity.  Joy transforms negative thoughts into positive learning experiences that encourage freedom and creativity.  Make joy your greatest legacy.  (Glory, p. 252)

Wednesday, September 11, 2019 – 11 Elul 5779

Ki Teitze: Deuteronomy 21:10 – 25:19

Laws are presented here for the treatment of various types of “sexual offenses.”

Sexual pleasure and sensual needs are important to our physical well-being.  Combined with kavannah – spiritual intention – your senses become vehicles for enlightenment.  Rather than deny your senses, cherish and hallow them as parts of God.  (Creativity, p. 273)
