Welcome to TAO, the Largest Jewish Renewal Center in the Southeast United States
Temple Adath Or has been the center of Jewish Renewal for over 40 years and is the largest Jewish Renewal Center in the Southeast. Jewish Renewal is a worldwide movement grounded in Judaism’s prophetic and mystical traditions. Jewish Renewal carries forward Judaism’s perpetual process of renewal.
Renewal honors the important and unique role of every Jewish person. We emphasize a direct spiritual experience, often with mystical or Kabbalistic teachings. Renewal endeavors to reinvigorate modern Judaism with Kabbalistic, Hasidic, and musical practices from ancient mystic Judaic traditions, meditation, and ecstatic prayer.
Jewish Renewal Jews we are committed to the principle of inclusion. We welcome everyone from every background and demographic: singles, couples, and families in all their forms, interfaith couples, individuals with disabilities, and all people, regardless of age, race, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or financial means.
We are committed to securing the Jewish future of our synagogue and people. We are dedicated to the heart of Judaism by providing children with a Jewish education, support through life’s challenges, celebrating blessings and embracing spirituality.
Community
Our TAO community is the foundation of our congregation. You can best gain a sense of the vitality, warmth and caring of our congregation by meeting our members and caring staff by joining us for Shabbat services, holiday celebrations, Wisdom Classes, men’s and women’s spirituality groups, and special events. We aim to expand our programs and services every year and are excited to be planning not one, but two travel missions just for our membership, along with a Hebrew School for our middle school students, and adult education training programs.

Rates
While we have kept our rates the same for many years, we have a modest increase this year. We are happy to have remained consistently below the national average for synagogues of our size.
We will continue to offer one time, quarterly, and now a 12-month monthly payment plan (as opposed to ten months).
Security
We also now have a security fund contribution. Our security is of paramount importance and has become significantly more expensive, requiring more manpower and technology to keep us safe. We cannot compromise our safety and security and as a community, we can come together to assure we are all protected with every program and service we attend, and with every online presence we maintain.
