Shemot: Exodus 1:1 – 6:1

God comes to Moses on Mt. Horeb, and speaks to him from the burning bush.  Moses is to go to Pharoah and free God’s people.  Moses asks for God’s name, and God says, “Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh,” “I Am That I Am.”

You are born of the God who is called “I Am That I Am.”  When you say positive statements using the words “I am,” such as “I am intelligent, I am worth it, I am beautiful, I am perfect as I am,” then God’s image and the sacredness of all of creation are affirmed in you.  (Creativity, p. 267)

Loving yourself means coming face-to-face with your own truth, walking through that truth, and walking through your fears.  At times of increased turmoil and confusion, it means allowing yourself to question the very myths and beliefs that sustain you.  (Creativity, p. 272)

Notice where your sense of self is today.  Is it in the insecurity, looking for outside sources to build a secure, stable structure around you?  Or is it in the freedom to be self-responsible and empowered to live in the creative, dynamic flow of life?  The certainty that you seek can be found only in the nothingness of God and in the flexibility to move as life moves and to change as life changes.  (Wisdom, p. 83)
